Is it Actually Possible to Get a College Degree Online?

About 20 years ago, I made the decision to return to school to earn my bachelor’s degree, but the town where I lived only had a community college, and I did not want to have to travel several times a week for an hour or more to attend classes.

I started attending classes after finding a self-study program from a tiny accredited institution in Indiana that used proctored tests and worked great for me.

That was cutting edge back then, but now that there are so many more options available, especially online, for what was once known as distance learning, choosing a reputable online school may be very challenging.

Do not visit Diploma Mills.

Many dubious businesses will sell you a buy diploma from a phony university that isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. Avoid utilizing one of these to apply for jobs because doing so will only get you into trouble. Because you lied about your qualifications, you will eventually be exposed and fired, which might easily wreck your career.

In fact, a number of prominent figures in industry and government have recently been exposed for utilizing phony degrees, losing their jobs and all credibility in the process.

Avoid degrees based on life experience

Your life experiences may be used as the basis for a buy fake a diploma from some fake universities. It’s often necessary to draft a few brief reports to demonstrate your expertise, but in reality, I believe this is done to make you believe you are working toward the phony degree.

These degrees are likewise essentially useless; therefore you should steer clear of any universities that support them.

But, keep in mind that some reputable schools will give you credit for life experiences if you can demonstrate your understanding of a subject in enough detail to persuade a professor that you deserve the credit.

I was able to earn credit for a few classes in this method, but I also had to take some since I didn’t demonstrate sufficient subject-matter expertise.

There is typically a cap on the amount of credit you can earn in this manner because, at the end of the day, you need to enroll in genuine courses with actual homework assignments, projects, and exams in order to earn a respectable college degree.

Credibility Is Important

When assessing an online college program, the most crucial factor to take into account is whether or not the school has received accreditation from a reliable certifying body. Several online programs claim to be accredited by XYZ, etc., but frequently these are not state approved and have no real-world value.

To ensure you are receiving a valid education, search for a program that has been granted accreditation by the same bodies that do so for actual brick and mortar schools and institutions.

As many traditional universities are now offering online courses, you may be confident that enrolling in classes from one of them will be fine, but for others, do your research before committing.
